Be Yourself … All the Others Are Taken

Each of us is a unique, unrepeatable expression of being human. There’s no other like us, and in order for us to live a fulfilling life, we need to live out who we are meant to be.

We may do things in life based not upon what our purpose of being is but on what others may have told us or influenced us to believe we should do or be. This stifles our own uniqueness and suppresses our distinctive gifts. Sometimes we live our lives doing things that, from the outside, make us look like we’re successful and happy, but inside, we’re not being who we are meant to be. And that is spiritually crushing.

Real success is being our authentic selves. It is acknowledging that part of ourselves that is unique and doing things that are in line with really making our heart sing.

This requires us to break away from the pack kind of thinking that often controls our behavior and decisions. It’s a little scary to break away from the pack, but it is liberating.

How do you know if you aren’t being true to your inner self? It’s a feeling. When you’re not your authentic self, you’re not energized by what you’re doing. It’s life-draining rather than life-enhancing and life-affirming. It’s something that when you see it, you know it.

Life is energy, and the more expansive and energetic your energy is and the more you can honestly say, I’m more in tune with what I ought to be doing in my life and contributing to this world, or my community, or my family or my job, the happier and more successful you will be.
